Understanding the story of God and humanity gives us a proper understanding of our power + possessions, and allows us to share and give, build a more equitable world, etc., rather than pursuing our own, individual kingdom.

The concept of the Reign of God is absolutely central to Jesus. It is his core metaphor. If we don’t understand the idea of the Reign of God, we don’t understand Jesus’ teaching, because much of Jesus’ teaching is describing the Reign of God.

Learning to live in light of the new lens of faith we’re seeing through; rather than seeing faith through the lens of the establishment, we’ll struggle to see God, and the people God loves, through the lens of the underclass, the powerless, and the poor.

God’s love embraces every part of who we are, and longs to heal us so we may become everything we’re created to be.

God embraces us, even as we are in despair, and longs to comfort and heal us.

God is with us in our darkness, and longs to bring us healing through her light of life.

God’s revolutionary love transforms us from prioritizing our personal security to living with generosity toward our neighbors.

Robes dominate this week’s images, from Samuel’s annual little robe from Hannah while he, like Jesus, grew in wisdom and stature to Paul’s instructions to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, patience, love, peace.

What amazing love is this that the Godhead comes down to us in the little clan of a little people and takes on a human face? With Mary, we rejoice in God, our Savior, by actively participating in God’s leveling mercy.

Singing together causes great joy and jubilation. But, even more, our hearts exult and swell as we imagine God singing over us.

Imagine the wideness of God’s embrace of all creatures and creation! It will widen our hearts to do the things that make for peace.

Can we, dare we, embrace hope once more? We can when we remember God's steadfast goodness and the goodness of learning and walking in God's ways.

Whatever we believe dictates how we live.
